Church History
"We exist to exalt the Lord, and equip the saints to extend the Kingdom of God on the Plateau and beyond."
In 1986 Pastor Jeff Roper followed the leading of the Lord to form Morning Star Christian Fellowship in Enumclaw, Washington. With just a handful of believers Pastor Jeff began sowing the good seed of the Word of God on the Plateau. The church began building on a solid foundation of teaching Scripture, worshipping the Lord boldly, praying & interceding for the community, proclaiming Christ and his Kingdom.
Being an active and integrated part of the community of churches on the Plateau has always been vital to our calling. Pastor Jeff began serving on the Plateau Ministerial Association, and was a founding board member for Plateau Outreach Ministries. We have participated in community Thanksgiving Services, Human Life Services, community prayer meetings and various joint-church conferences and activities. We are just one part of the Body of Christ and we make the whole stronger by working together.
In 1989 Morning Star joined the Foursquare movement, finding in Foursquare a family of churches whose mission, passion and expression matched her own. At this time our first Church Council was formed, and church membership established in keeping with the Foursquare bylaws.
Missions has been a priority here. Through our support and direct involvement many lives have been touched in the Pacific Northwest and around the world. We have sent youth missions teams out, supported nationals in their home countries, founded a church in the Philippines, which has since multiplied itself, and have been instrumental in the development of Foursquare churches in Russia. We have seen that God can take the willingness of a few people in a small rural community and use it touch the world that He loves.
Outreach within the community (oil change, Vacation Bible School, Alpha Course, Youth Concerts, Teaching Conferences, supporting schools, Plateau Outreach Ministries, which offers Christ-centered social services to people in need.
In late 2007 the gentle breezes of change began to blow. An indicator of this season of change was the embracing of a new name for our church. Morning Star Christian Fellowship became New Life Foursquare Church. New Life is a declaration of what Christ does and what we as a church are about; the new life of a believer in Christ. Brand new believers as well as seasoned saints are made whole, refreshed and restored by this new life. As a church we believe our calling is to offer that new life day after day, week after week to all who seek the Lord.
2008 brought us a new Pastor, as founding Pastor Jeff Roper accepted a position with Foursquare Missions. Pastor Marcus Kelly came to us as a Youth Pastor in 2007 from Grace Church in Federal Way, Washington. He became Senior Pastor of New Life Foursquare Church in February.
